When people think about living longer, they focus on nutrition, exercise, supplements. Those matter. But one of the strongest predictors of longevity is much simpler: connection.
The evidence
A landmark meta-analysis involving more than 300,000 people found that individuals with stronger social relationships were about 50% more likely to survive over time than those who were socially isolated (Holt-Lunstad et al., 2010). The quality of your relationships can influence health almost as much as many traditional medical risk factors.
The practice
Reach out to someone you care about — not because you need a favor, but because the relationship matters. A thoughtful message, a phone call, a coffee. Small moments of connection often become the memories that matter most.
